Life Is Not Fair – But It Is Teachable
Page 7: Failure Is Not Your Identity
Failure hurts, not because of what happened,
but because of what we tell ourselves after it.
One mistake slowly becomes:
“I am a failure.”
The dangerous shift
Failure is an event.
Identity is who you are.
Confusing the two creates long-term damage.
What happens when failure becomes identity
- You stop trying
- You lower expectations
- You fear new attempts
This is how potential disappears.
Lesson #7
You experienced failure.
You did not become failure.
A healthier internal dialogue
Replace:
“I failed, so I am not capable.”
With:
“This attempt failed. I can learn and adjust.”
Language shapes identity.
Reflection for today
Ask yourself:
“What failure am I still carrying as a label instead of a lesson?”
Letting go of labels frees energy.
